A plant of disturbed ground and crop fields that have not been treated with weedkiller. The seed are very long lived in the soil, so can readily be seen after a 70's and 80's built houses are demolished. This is the poppy which sprang on Flander's Field, because the previous vegetation on the field was completely destroyed, paving the way for this species to colonize. The deep red flowers are much enjoyed by bees for their rich pollen content and appear between late may and september. Annual.
